It was in 1994 that Neil Jordan released his new film, Interview with the Vampire, in theaters.. Adapted from the eponymous novel by Anne Rice, the story focuses on Louis de Pointe du Lac, the owner of an agricultural estate located in New Orleans in 1791. After the death of his wife, he meets 'a vampire, Lestat de Lioncourt. The latter transforms him into a creature of the night and thus offers him eternal life. However, Louis is not yet ready to embrace the demonic life of a vampire. He prefers to draw the blood he needs from somewhere other than human beings. Funny idea, isn't it? The adventures of this small group are told through an interview which takes place in the present day.

Having won a BAFTA, a Saturn Awards but also an MTV Movie Awards, after being nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe, Interview with the Vampire was well received by both critics and spectators. It also grossed more than $223 million at the box office, which is a nice performance for a feature film whose budget is estimated at $60 million. It is certain that its casting did not leave the public indifferent since we find Brad Pitt (Louis), Tom Cruise (Lestat), Antonio Banderas (Armand), Kirsten Dunst (Claudia) and even Christian Slater (Daniel Malloy).

Interview with apprentice vampires

Paramount+ has just announced that the future series Interview with the Vampire will launch exclusively in France on May 10, 2024 with all episodes available at launch. Binge-watching enthusiasts will be in heaven. The band describes this televised version as “a sensual, contemporary adaptation of Anne Rice's groundbreaking gothic novel”, reads the press release. We can also see that Interview with the Vampire will follow “the epic story of Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia of love, blood and the dangers of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy”. Not too many surprises on that front, then.
