Bug fixes take time because the team hasn't grown with the success

The developers at Arrowhead have their hands full with “Helldivers 2”. Therefore, it can happen that bug fixes take time because the team is still quite small.

The developers of “Helldivers 2” regularly add new content and updates to the popular shooter. They have their hands full keeping to the promised release rhythm while also dealing with bugs and other problems.

Another difficulty is that the Arrowhead Game Studios team cannot cope with the huge success of “Helldivers 2”. The people who fix bugs are the same people who create new content, says Associate Community Manager SpitzerFX.

New content and bug fixes are equally important

“Arrowhead still has a very small team compared to the success of the game,” Associate Community Manager SpitzerFX recently wrote on Reddit. “And even though we have our own QA department, the people who fix bugs in weapons and armor, for example, are the same people who are responsible for developing new weapons and armor.”

Already last February, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt stated that a Hasty hiring of employees is not a solution for the shooter's problems. At that time, “Helldivers 2” suffered from long queues and problems with matchmaking and login.

The developers have committed to a new war bond to be published per month. Therefore, depending on priority, players may have to wait for bug fixes. “It is important to us to maintain the promised cadence – one warbond per month. But it is just as important for everyone to fix the glaring bugs and technical problems,” SpitzerFX continued. “We just have so much time in a work week.”

Players could take advantage of the small size of the team and the existing bugs. Arrowhead was aware of the behavior and called it “undemocratic.”
