A trailer sets the mood for the new part and the date has also been set. “SteamWorld Heist 2” will come onto the market on August 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC (Steam).

Naval battles and a mysterious threat

The sequel to the turn-based strategy game from 2016 takes place on the high seas and is more focused on pirates. As Captain Leeway, players lead their crew through Carribea in “SteamWorld Heist 2,” likely committing some looting and robbery, but also investigating a “mysterious threat.”

The gameplay of the original game remains unchanged as the focus remains on tactical positioning and rebounding shots in various environments to take out enemies behind cover. Additionally, naval combat and an explorable overworld were added, allowing the player to sail the ship.

Plenty of weapons, utensils and ship equipment

The profession system enables characters in “SteamWorld Heist 2” to use a variety of weapons and combine their individual skills to develop new ways of playing. There are more than 150 weapons, everyday items and ship equipment to choose from.

“Immerse yourself in a world with over 35 hours of gameplay brought to life by hand-crafted characters and environments, accompanied by a captivating soundtrack and songs from our returning, beloved troubadours Steam Powered Giraffe,” said the creators of the game.

“SteamWorld Heist 2”, as mentioned at the beginning, will be released on August 8, 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. On launch day, the title will land directly in Xbox Game Pass. Below, the trailer shows what players can expect from the sequel:
