Manor Lords: How to increase approval and maintain it

In Manor Lords, approval is an essential value to guarantee the serenity of the village and its expansion. Knowing how to earn it is therefore important, but being able to maintain it at a certain threshold even more so. For this there are different methods that we can put in place from the first year to survive more easily in this world. You can find in our guide all the ways to gain approval in Manor Lordsbut above all how to store it.

What is the purpose of approval in Manor Lords ?

Approval is a gauge that is expressed as a percentage, ranging from 0 to 100. The higher the number, the more new families will come to live with you. In total there are 4 levels, 2 positive, 1 neutral and 1 negative. The objective is therefore, at least at the beginning, to maximize the gauge in order to attract as many people as possible. Be careful, however, to always have empty houses ready to welcome this new population or you will lose approval.

50-74%+1
25-49%0

We must therefore, at best, try to stay above 50% approval. Because if we were to fall below, the loss of family would not be the only problem. Some will no longer want to work, will leave the city, or will become bandits. To avoid this, it will be necessary to do what is necessary through the different ways of obtaining approval.

How to Earn and Maintain Approval

Approval fluctuates depending on different factors in Manor Lords, which can make its management complicated at the start of the game. However, it will not be easier to manage as you progress. You will therefore have to be an exemplary leader, but also a fair and understanding leader. Finally, this will not prevent some dissatisfied people.

Protect the people

For this, there are several possible things. The first, as we mentioned previously, is to ensure that every family has a roof over their heads. Devilishly realistic, Manor Lords lowers your approval meter if homeless people are roaming the streets. It will therefore be necessary to do what is necessary to always have free Burgage Plots, but ensure that they are not too far from the vital points of the city. This means they must have a well nearby, and have access to all survival resources.

But you will also have to take care of your population by letting them say goodbye to the dead. If some of your inhabitants die during a conflict or against bandits, do what is necessary to repatriate their bodies. With the church, you will be able to bury them and thus allow their families to calm down.

Finally, make sure your families are not drowning in taxes. If they are necessary to have a treasury which allows you to expand your village, a people taxed too much can turn against you. You must therefore find a balance so that they earn enough money for you, without them living in poverty. You will probably have to adjust taxes very often to adapt to different situations.

Always have reservations

This may seem obvious, but a good way to increase and maintain your approval rating is to make sure your families don't lack anything. On the interface, you can directly see your resources, what you produce and what you consume over the months. Whether through imports or simply thanks to the riches of your land, make sure that no one lacks food, water or wood. Also check that the marketplace offers all of these products throughout the year.

Of course, to avoid wasting resources, we will have to protect them from weather conditions. If at the beginning a single warehouse and a single attic are enough, they will soon no longer be able to store everything. Construct these buildings as you progress so that your resources are always safe from the weather. You will also need to assign at least one family to each of them to take care of them.

Progress through the ages

Strangely, a good way to generate approval is to simply advance your structures throughout the adventure. Whether it's the church or the mansion, upgrade them as soon as you can once they're built. They will make surrounding homes more efficient, and therefore improve the lives of your people. Spending resources on it to bring them to the next age is therefore a priority.

With all of this, you should have no trouble maintaining your approval gauge above 50% on Manor Lords. You will be able to see new families arriving every month and thus make your departure camp a major city in the country. That is if your neighbors don't attack you to enslave or execute you.
