We played Paradize Project, the zombie game with great ideas – Test and News

Developed by Eko Software and published by Nacon, Paradize Project (provisional name) is a game that was announced last year.Offering a unique experience, this title will have been approached for a good twenty minutes during Gamescom. This first contact, frankly positive, frankly made us want to discover more…

Paradize Project is above all a concept: you direct a character that evolves in a world where zombies are ubiquitous.Special feature: you have a helmet which, once placed on the creatures’ heads, allows you to control them. Thus, the zombies occupy a double place in the game: that of being your enemies or your allies.A frankly original concept that the developers have decided to exploit to the maximum.

The game is above all an open-world adventure where exploration takes center stage.Your character is equipped with weapons (ranged or melee) and the maneuverability could not be more classic. We move with the left stick, we use the right to aim and we shoot with the trigger.Where the title breaks with classicism is in the possibility of being accompanied by … two zombies.Equipped with a helmet each, they act as helpers, fighters and support. You must equip them but also and above all personalize their behavior. For example, you can check the option “use his weapon”, as well as “harvest”.Thus, your companion will shoot all the enemies around you while collecting what falls from their corpse.Better, if you equip one of them with a ranged weapon, it is possible to check an option “flee when an enemy approaches”.The allied zombie will then move away from its opponent when a threat is felt. Paradize Project offers here a rather new experience which is rich in possibilities. It worked perfectly well when we tried the game.

The other big part of the game is devoted to the management and construction of a base. And if the developers did not tell us much about the scenario, we still know that the story will revolve around a rocket (why not after all?) Which was in the center of the camp.Again, personalization is important. It is possible to build many barracks some of which will offer interesting and even necessary possibilities and advantages, such as crafting certain objects. To make all this work, you will have to rely on your household zombies who will perform a whole series of tasks for you.Be careful though: their intelligence being limited, they will not be able to carry out too many activities at the same time. You will therefore have to customize their actions and behaviors (as in combat) so that they can dig the ground, plant seeds, water and harvest vegetables or fruits. Many possibilities are available to you for players who want to push the title to its limits.

During this short demo, we were able to explore the camp and discover how it works. We also had the opportunity to face many enemies, some of which will take a form other than that of zombies. It is also good to note that the content of the game seems relatively substantial. The developers wanted to vary the proposal sufficiently to avoid a feeling of weariness which could have been quickly present.Let’s end this first overview by talking about the technique. The game is developed with an in-house engine that is frankly efficient. At the time these lines are written, there are still a few things to tweak, but we bet that by the game’s release, the bugs will have been erased.

Paradize Project is certainly a good surprise.Relatively classic at first sight, the title of Eko Software turns out to be frankly original and creative. There are many possibilities for customizing zombies, while its dual concept, exploration / construction, should offer many hours of play to those who would like to discover what this universe conceals.Paradize Project is scheduled to land on February 29, 2024 on our consoles.
