PS5 upgrade now available to all PS Plus members

Bethesda has confirmed that PS Plus membership holders who have purchased “Fallout 4” via Essential or the PS Plus Collection will now also be able to enjoy the PS5 upgrade. Some players had already found what they were looking for in the settings.

This last week released next-gen update of “Fallout 4” caused confusion across consoles. While it initially seemed like a mode was missing on the Xbox Series PS Plus members stood in front of closed doors.

A solution was quickly found for holders of an extra membership and they were able to start upgrading their copy of “Fallout 4” to the new version before the weekend. Essential members initially only had the option of purchasing the full version. This problem has now also been resolved.

PS5 upgrade finally available for all Fallout 4 players to download

On Reddit Several users reported tonight that they were able to upgrade their version of “Fallout 4” obtained via PS Plus Essential or the PS Plus Collection to the next-gen version.

One user wrote: “I only have PS Plus Essentials and have the game from the PS Plus Collection. I went to the game in my library and there was a drop-down menu labeled Game.” In this menu he changed the game version and later he was informed that the PS5 update was being obtained.

Other Reddit users then explained that after these steps they were also able to provide “Fallout 4” with the next-gen update. Users from Germany also reported that the update was now available for Essential members.

Below is an overview of the steps that lead to success:

  • Go to the game library.
  • Call up your collection, which also lists the PS Plus games.
  • Select the entry “Fallout 4”.
  • After that, you should see a drop-down menu in the game entry that contains the “Game” entry twice.
  • Go to the PS5 logo option and download it.

There is also an official confirmation: It was later made clear that this was by no means a coincidence or misrepresentation Tweet from Bethesda clearly.

It says: “Thank you for informing us that some PS Plus subscribers were unable to access the free next-gen update of Fallout 4 on PlayStation. This problem has now been successfully resolved. Subscribers who have already received Fallout 4 from the PlayStation Plus Collection should now be able to access the update as intended.”

IGN report causes confusion

In the meantime, many players may have invested money in purchasing “Fallout 4,” even if they are entitled to the upgrade. Bethesda wrote in advance that the update would be made available “for all” players, which led to the assumption that it also meant the copies that were purchased via Essential or the PS Plus Collection.

An article from IGN yesterday caused confusion. The publication wrote: “Anyone who owns Fallout 4 through the PS Plus Collection will not receive a free next-gen update, Bethesda confirms.”

The publication cited a tweet from Bethesda as its source, in which the publisher simply states that extra members have a claim. The company was initially unable to provide any information about Essential, but did not rule out support.

Further reports about Fallout:

There was initially confusion among players on the Xbox Series X. It initially gave the impression that quality mode was missing in this version of the “Fallout 4” update. The reason for this assumption was the frame rate, which on the Xbox Series X is up to 60 FPS in all modes. According to the changelog, it should only be a maximum of 30 FPS in quality mode. Bethesda took care of this too in a tweet for clarity.
