To be able to help Jack Cabot in Fallout 4, you will have to launch a side quest, “The Secret of Cabot House”. For this, you will have to make sure you have already completed the one called “Emogene Has a Lover”. Once this prerequisite has been validated, go see Jack Cabot.
This last will reveal to you that he needs your help to prevent his father from escaping from prison. Once the quest is activated, follow Jack to the asylum or if you want to save time, teleport directly there where he will be waiting for you out front.
Exploring the Asylum with Jack Cabot
Enter the building and just follow Jack Cabot, eliminating the looters on your way. You will eventually come across Edward Deegan with whom you will speak before continuing on your way. By the way, take the Charisma figurine that is next to the computer.
Return to the ground floor and cross the courtyard to climb the scaffolding allowing you to reach the first floor. Continue until you come across the asylum cells. There, cross the corridor and go down the hole in the last room at the end.
Eliminate the looters and take the elevator which will take you to the basement. Follow Jack to the laboratory, before taking the corridor to your left. There you will reach Lorenzo's cell. Eliminate Lefty and his allies and you will have a choice. To help you, we've outlined the three possible options and what that entails.
Option 1: Kill Lorenzo
Option number 1 is simply to do what you are there to do. Kill Lorenzo and prevent him from escaping. To do this, activate the 4 levers around the cell. Once it's done, return to Jack Cabot and he will offer you 500 Caps as a reward.
Tell him that it's not enough and that you deserve better and he will agree to compensate you more. You will then have to wait a week in game to get this best reward. Return to the asylum and talk to Jack so that he gives you his father's gun.
Option 2: Free Lorenzo, then kill him
The second option is to free Lorenzo, but kill him anyway. To do this, once the latter has escaped, return to Cabot House and persuade Jack to help you in the upcoming fight. Lorenzo arrives and you will have to kill him.
Wait for Jack to shoot him with his Zeta gun and then deal damage to him. At the end of the fight, talk to Jack and persuade him to give you your bounty of 500 Caps. Let us note, however, that this solution is more restrictive than the first, all for lower rewards.
Option 3: Free Lorenzo and betray Jack Cabot
Finally, the last option is to completely betray Jack Cabot by freeing his father and agreeing to help him. Then return to Cabot House and talk to Jack without ever trying to help him. Worse still, when speaking with Edward, you can use your persuasion to get him to help you in the upcoming fight!
When Lorenzo shows up, ally yourself with him. Once the fight is over, Lorenzo will offer you a vial of mysterious serum. The latter allows you to gain +5 strength, +50 damage resistance and -10 radiation for one hour! Besides, if you ever run out of this serum, all you have to do is return to Lorenzo to replenish your stocks.
