No less than 12 projects

The Star Wars franchise continues to be a success, which is a good sign for Disney, given the large number of projects it is considering. Beyond video games and the highly anticipated Star Wars Outlaws, several films should see the light of day under his direction. The group has already announced its intention to make a new trilogy, as well as continue the production of spin-offs. Twelve programs have been mentioned, but none have been officially confirmed yet. As for the series, it's a little calmer because fans are mainly hoping for seasons 2. However, we can mention Acolyte, a fairly dark show which tells the adventures of a former Padawan and her Jedi master, responsible for solving a series of crimes. Fans are also watching Lando, centered on the eponymous character, but which does not yet have a release date. To get your dose of Star Wars, you'll have to focus on this other show, which will bring back an artist who worked on the original trilogy.

Skeleton Crew: a return to basics

Skeleton Crew is fully expected in 2024, without further details. If the show is still very discreet, it has already been talked about with its casting, because it is Jude Law (Welcome to Gattaca) who will be the star. Scenario-wise, we will follow a group of children, determined to find their home, even though they are completely lost in the galaxy. For now, the series still has a lot to reveal, including a trailer and a release date. However, the latest information is very exciting, as producer Jon Watts has confirmed the return of an emblematic artist from the first trilogy. It is Phil Tippett, which returns to the franchise to deliver its impressive visuals. If his name may not mean much to you, tell yourself that it is largely thanks to him that Star Wars was able to shine thanks to its special effects. It was he who conceptualized some of the most iconic devices and creatures in the saga. They were able to come to life on screen thanks to the stop motion techniqueas is the case for Imperial Walkers.

When joining the cast of Skeleton Crew, Jon Watts explained that he wanted to give the series a special charm by using modern and more traditional cinema techniques. “We asked Phil Tippett to do stop-motion. We did old-fashioned matte painting (a technique which consists of acting out a scene, using a painted glass plate as decoration).” We don't yet know what these working methods will do, but the show with Jude Law could have truly unique effects, which would take us back to the golden age of Star Wars. Minimizing CGI could also prove to be a profitable strategy, at a time when Disney is criticized for its abusive use of this technique in its Marvel productions.
