The 7th season of Battlefield 2042 has been running for a few weeks now. As Electronic Arts has now announced, it will also be the last. The publisher wants to put all its efforts into the next part of the series.
Although things weren't going well for EA's traditional shooter series when Battlefield 2042 was released, after various updates and the first seasons, the game was able to convince the community. Reliable figures are only available from Steam, but they were at the top at the start of the now seventh season on March 17th over 43,000 active players at the same time (source: SteamDB).

Battlefield 2042: No more major content updates
In an announcement, Bryan Breede, the General Manager of Battlefield, explains that after Season 7 no more will follow (Source: Electronic Arts). He understands that this is disappointing news, but EA wants to focus fully on the future of the series and wants to use all available resources to achieve this.
Battlefield 2042 should too continue to run after the end of the season and continue to receive changing challenges, modes and events. But fans should no longer expect new content. The maintenance work necessary for game operations will also continue to be carried out.
New Battlefield team at developer Motive
EA's Motive Studio is supposed to have one new team to be built, which will also work on the future of Battlefield. Motive implemented the remake of the horror classic Dead Space in 2023 and published the space shooter Star Wars: Squadrons in 2020. At the same time, Motive is still working on a game about the Marvel hero Iron Man.
