The Latest on Console Sales and the Top 10 Nintendo Games for March 31, 2024

It was this Tuesday that Nintendo chose for to present its financial results for the 4th quarter spanning from January 1 to March 31, 2024, and therefore of the past fiscal year. So, as always, we will take stock of the sales of the Switch and its games. On the hardware side, these are now more than 141.32 million copies of the machine which were sold, or 1.96 million over the quarter. Yes, the drop compared to last year is clearly felt.

On the software side, the total amounts to 1.23582 billion games sold (1,235.82 million). During the three months concerned, this represents 35.72 million copies. This is certainly less than last year, but can undoubtedly be justified by fewer projects published in general.

Once again the top 10 games first party did not change, with slight updates to the figures. Clearly, it seems difficult to imagine that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may one day surpass its predecessor Breath of the Wild, which continues to sell well despite its age. A decline from year to year in sales of these exclusives Nintendo is also to be noted, the peak having been reached in 2022.

During the next review, the remake of Paper Mario: The Millennium Door should be there (read our preview), expected within a few weeks, as well as the remaster of Luigi's Mansion 2 scheduled for June and Endless Ocean Luminous just out. They are in any case highlighted by Nintendo. Metroid Prime 4 still appears in the list of releases coming one day on Switch… as well as Pokémon Legends: ZA planned for next year.

For its forecasts for the 2025 fiscal year which began on April 1, only 13.5 million pieces of hardware and 165 million pieces of software are expected in terms of sales, fairly pronounced drops which suggest that the “Switch 2” is really not planned for many months. By the way, the next film Super Mario announced in early March is highlighted as an initiative to increase the number of people with access to a license Nintendo. The income linked to NSO are they on the rise.

You can pre-order Paper Mario: The Millennium Door on Amazon Or Cdiscount at €44.49, or even to the Fnac at €49.99 with €10 offered on your loyalty account and a paper airplane.
