Even though he will be back in the cinema, 36 years after his last appearance, Robocop has never left the hearts of pop culture fans. Indeed, the most badass cop in Detroit is back on April 24 in a restored 4K version. The distribution company Splendor Films decided to pay homage to one of the first science fiction classics released in 1988. For its release in the 80s, the 50% man and 50% machine cop still brought together 1.6 million spectators in French cinemas. Director Ed Neumeier takes us to the near future where society is controlled by the Omni Product Cartel. OCP dreams of building a futuristic megalopolis: Delta City . The hero of the film Alex Murphy is played by Peter Weller. At the start of the film, Alex Murphy is an ordinary police officer, but unfortunately during an intervention, he is brutally murdered by members of a criminal gang.

To remedy this problem, two scientists will work to find a way to fight the cartel. It is finally Leon, who arrives to design Robocop, half-man, half-robot. To design his new protective weapon, Léon brings Alex Murphy back to life, who becomes the city's professional killer. Robocop, no longer having any memory of his former life, will gradually make more than disturbing revelations. Through this action film, the director wanted to convey satirical and philosophical messages about the society of the time. This film was one of the first big successes in the SF genre and remains today one of the best ever made.

A modestly priced sci-fi film
