The Biggest Film Release of the Week: Highly Anticipated and Critically Acclaimed

Discover the complete agenda of new Prime Video releases from May 6 to 12, 2024, including a highly rated film, an exclusive original series and the return of major programs.

Prime Video has updated its catalog of films, series, documentaries and reality TV shows with the first additions from May 2024. And Amazon has not gone into detail by still releasing a nice list of feature films from straight away. The platform has no time to wait and has already put online Pokémon Detective Pikachu, Pulp Fiction, Ready Player One, Batman Begins and even Rampage: Out of Control which is inspired by the arcade game released in 1986. A few hours of two public holidays, are there any other interesting new features?

New Prime Video films from May 6 to 12, 2024

Amazon has been second from the start and so it's no surprise that this week is a little quieter. Two films have, however, been added to Prime Video since Monday, May 6, 2024. The French comedy Les Mythos with the excellent Alban Ivanov is thus available. It tells the story of three young people from the suburbs who find themselves acting as bodyguards for Marie Van Verten. The heiress to the biggest fortune in Belgium… chased by experienced killers. The three friends who landed this job on the basis of a myth will therefore have to continue to improvise in the hope of getting out safe and sound.

The second Prime Video film from May 6 to 12, 2024 is Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson (The Tenenbaum Family) with its first-class cast. We follow two pre-teens, Suzy and Sam, who fall in love in a community sheltered from worries and decide to move in and live together. What follows is a race against time to find them before something bad happens. An atypical dramatic comedy with Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Harvey Kietel, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand, rated 93% (press) and 86% (spectators) on Rotten Tomatoes.

New Prime Video series from May 6 to 12, 2024

There will only be one new Prime Video series for this week 19, but that's unheard of. Maxton Hall is in fact a new “Amazon Original” creation only accessible on this SVOD service. After the platonic love story between two pre-teens, head to Maxton Hall High School, a very select school with students handpicked according to their social status. But student Ruby will change things and perhaps the future of James Beaufort, a wealthy student, by witnessing an event that could shake up his pre-written destiny. Unless the two put aside their rivalries to maintain another relationship. The new teen series will be available on May 9 on Prime Video. Given the success of films of this genre on the platform, Amazon may have one of its next hits.

Documentaries and shows of week 19

Jeremy Clarkson, former presenter of the flagship show Top Gear, returns for season 3 of Clarkson on the Farm. In these new episodes, the farmer engages in raising pigs, goats and growing mushrooms. You can watch it now on Amazon Prime Video. And as luck would have it, the other release of the week is none other than the 2024 season of Top Gear France which is obviously not piloted by Jeremy Clarkson, but by the former YouTube duo Vilebrequin. The first episode, which will take place on the legendary Nürburgring, will invite comedians and actors Ahmed Sylla as well as Julien Aruti from the Bande à Fifi.
