Even if it doesn't reveal itself every four mornings with lots of trailers, “skate” (Skate 4 for short) continues its development, and everything seems to be going well ! On YouTube, the Full Circle studio – behind the project – regularly publishes Insider Playtest Highlights, where we can see the best figures of players who try the game in preview thanks to the Insider program. On the sidelines of these montages, the broadcast The Board Room offers a twenty-minute update on the progress of production. That's good, because a new opus full of information has just arrived.

A release date?

To immediately clear the elephant in the room… No, we still don't have a release date for Skate 4, expected to eventually be free-to-play on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, this new Boardroom tells us that the Insider program will arrive “later in the year” on console, which means that we are slowly but surely getting closer to a release date.

The Personalization Package

The big focus of the show is the customization of the avatar in skate. Like the gameplay of the franchise, Full Circle seeks here to find the sweet spot between realism and stylization. There will therefore be “many tools | options” so that everyone is able to display their personality, with the possibility of customizing their character's wardrobe (tops, pants, sneakers, even socks), size and shape. Of course, there will also be everything you need to beautify your board, from the pattern next to the wheels, to the design of the grip! It's what you expect from a skateboarding game.

To unlock it all, the player will be able to use two types of currency, one to be collected in-game, and another “premium”, announces the episode. No further details at the moment, except that Full Circle | Electronic Arts is committed to ensuring that the time invested by all players is “always valued” and that even without putting your hand in your pocket, it will be possible to purchase “great items”. At this time, it is unclear whether other aspects of skateboarding will pay off. As a post-launch roadmap, the studio is already announcing “new clothes | styles, new events | gaming possibilities”, and “new brands (aside from Vans, Girl, Chocolate) and new ways of collaborating with their partners”. It remains to be seen what EA means by this.
