Last year, a very special game adaptation, “Five Nights at Freddy's,” hit theaters. The scary horror film was surprisingly successful and grossed more than $291 million worldwide. It was therefore hardly surprising that that the film production company Blumhouse announced a successor a few weeks ago. The concrete start date has now finally been set.

When will Five Nights at Freddy's 2 be in theaters?

When it was officially announced, it was already known that “Five Nights at Freddy's 2” would premiere in cinemas towards the end of this year. Now Blumhouse has finally let the cat out of the bag: The horror film sequel starts on December 5, 2024.

In Germany, the game adaptation is expected to hit the big screen a day earlier – on December 4th. However, there are no official details regarding this yet. Accordingly, fans will have to be patient for around six months before they can get scared again.

What is Five Nights at Freddy's 2 about?

Blumhouse has not yet revealed any specific details about the story of “Five Nights at Freddy's 2”. There is only the somewhat vague statement: “Anyone can survive the Five Nights. There are no second chances this time.”

All that is known so far is that Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Lail will return in their roles from the first film. In addition, Emma Tammi (“The Wind”) is taking over the directing role again to offer fans the scariest screen adventure possible. The writing team consisting of Seth Cuddeback and Scott Cawthin is also on board again.

In order to outdo its predecessor – which is Blumhouse's most successful film to date – the production company is slightly increasing the budget for “Five Nights at Freddy's 2”. While the predecessor only cost $20 million, the sequel is likely to be quite a bit more expensive.

The additional money will, among other things, flow into improved animatronics, which logically play an important role in the world of “Five Nights at Freddy's”.
