Nintendo also announced a new edition of its own Direct format, which will take place in June. However, we shouldn't expect any news about Nintendo's new console here. Instead, according to the company, the focus is on games that will be released for the Switch in the second half of the year.

“We will be hosting a Nintendo Direct this June focused on the Nintendo Switch software line-up for the second half of 2024. “But please note that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation,” Nintendo stated.

The launch will probably not take place until 2025

While Nintendo has not yet provided any information about the release window for the Switch successor, several sources recently reported that the system was initially scheduled to be launched in 2024. However, for various reasons, Nintendo is said to have decided to postpone the release until spring 2025.

Rumors that in mid-February caused Nintendo's share price on the Tokyo stock exchange to temporarily fall fell by more than eight percent. Other current rumors speak, among other things, of a new approach to the Joy-Cons, which now magnetically attached to the system should be, as well as physical and digital backwards compatibility.

We will find out whether and to what extent these reports contain any kernel of truth over the course of Nintendo's 2024/2025 financial year.
