Summary of announcements for April 17, 2024, Hollow Knight Silksong still absent

No, we see you coming: no Hollow Knight Silksong. Let's not beat around the bush, the running gag can continue. However, we were treated to several announcements, mainly release dates and a few surprises. We leave you with our complete summary, game by game, of what was shown in this Indie world.

Little Kitty Big City

The Indie World presentation got off to a bad start for people who prefer dogs to cats: Little Kitty, Big City opened the ball with a new presentation of its concept while releasing a release date. See you next May 9 to discover this adventure game which makes you play the role of a young kitten who must return home to a city that is decidedly too big for him.

Yars Rising

WayForward, studio known for series Shantae And River City Girls come back with a brand new project: Yars Rising. It is a 2D action and platform game which aims to revive the Atari license (and for good reason, it is the publisher). A title that focuses on its speed, its retro mini-games, its punchy soundtrack and undoubtedly a little nostalgia. The release is planned for 2024 on Switch but also other platforms as well as Atari VCS.

Refind Self: The Personality Test Game

Already available on PC and smartphones since the end of last year, Refind Self: The Personality Test Game announced a Switch version for this summer. Although we don't yet have a release date, we do know that it will be a temporary exclusive for the Nintendo platform. This is a title that makes you embody an android and whose concept revolves around your choices and your… personality. With each action performed, the game wants to examine your personality and once it has completely understood you, the analysis will be 100% complete. An atypical concept, which will fit you into one of the 23 personality types to discover.

Sticky Business

It was also already available on other platforms (Steam), Sticky Business offers a port on the Nintendo version. The surprise is that it arrives today and is already available. DLC is also available for purchase, Plan With Me, which you can take separately or as a bundle and adds new content and a unique theme. As a reminder, this is a relaxing game where you must manage your sticker store, from creation to order preparation.

Antonblast

Very quickly skimmed with a short trailer, Antonblast came to announce a release date set for November 12, 2024 on PC and Switch (temporarily exclusive). Which might remind you of Pizza Tower is an action-packed retro platformer with a pixel aesthetic that takes inspiration from the Game Boy Advance. Everything is destructible, with several difficulty modes and a boss rush. A demo has just been deployed.

Valley Peaks

You may have already seen it on the networks when it was initially made official on Steam, Valley Peaks came to announce a Switch version. This climbing simulation game is sure to tickle our retina with its rather particular artistic direction. The concept is to make your way to the top of each ridge, no matter how: you can climb, glide but also use your tongue to move, all in FPS view. Watch out for rocks and other traps on your route. The release is planned for 2024.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

Very discreet since its announcement two years ago, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is nevertheless a title to watch: spotted by Annapurna Interactive and Simogo, the creators of Sayonaya Wild Hearts, there is reason to be intrigued. With its artistic direction all in black and white, the game will offer you an adventure filled with puzzles where you have to explore a large area where many puzzles are hidden. The wait is no longer very long, a release date set for May 16 has just fallen.

Europe

Postponed recently to refine his experience, Europe wanted to reassure us about his progress. The adventure and exploration game, with obvious Ghibli inspirations, has revealed a brand new trailer, returning to its lore and its open mode that we can explore. No release date but good news for the most impatient among you: a demo has just been deployed on Nintendo Switch.

Ninja Turtles Splinter's Fate

The TMNT license offers yet another adaptation, to the delight of pizza lovers. Or rather, a new port. Already available (and well received) on Apple Arcade, the roguelike Ninja Turtles Splinter's Fate is announced for Nintendo Switch for the month of July 2024. The same gameplay, the same concept but designed to be played on console. Note that this should be a temporary exclusivity.

Cat Quest III

The Cat Quest series will soon be entitled to a third episode. Action RPG in open world which had seduced the public with its first adventures, the title wanted to remind us that the release was fast approaching with a new trailer and above all, by specifying its date: it will be possible to discover this new story in purring from August 8, 2024. And surprise, a demo will arrive later today.

Stitch.

Do you like embroidery? Well maybe Stitch. might interest you. We're not talking about Disney's blue alien here, but rather a game that was released a little year ago on Apple Arcade. Another port therefore, which will allow you to do puzzle game style embroidery. Surprise, the title has a shadowdrop and is already available on the eShop.

The mash-up with a few dates

Before concluding with the usual final announcement, Indie World looked back at some titles coming soon to the hybrid console. We must admit that we regret a little that several of these games are only fleeting because even if they have already been announced, some certainly deserve to be on your wish list. Here are the games shown in the mash-up:

  • BZZZT : A pixel-art platform game already available on Steam, announced on Switch for this summer 2024
  • SCHiM : An atypical title which bases its concept on the play of light, you must advance through levels by hiding in the shadows. The release date fell for July 18, 2024, on Switch and probably PC
  • Animal Well : Already known and already dated May 9 on PC, PS5 and Switch, the title showed a new trailer to (re)confirm its arrival next month
  • Duck Detective The Secret Salami : Play as a duck detective, does that tempt you? It is the pitch of this investigation game which makes us think of the Aggretsuko series and which has announced a release date set for May 23
  • Another Crab's Treasure : Nothing really new, just a trailer to remind us of its already known arrival on April 25

SteamWorld Heist II

Surprise: Nintendo was hiding a One More Thing which will certainly please players who enjoyed the first part. SteamWorld Heist II has been made official by Image & Form Games, the sequel to its turn-based RPG. More ambitious, more complete and prettier, this new opus also promises us a new task system with the possibility of personalizing your crew according to your playing style. The release is scheduled for August 8, 2024 on Switch but also on PC , PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.

An Indie World with some great finds, which still lacked that little something extra. Yes, undoubtedly the shadow of a Hollow Knight which places on our expectations, but we must admit that the line-up was relatively sparse. At least we had release dates and that's already it. Note also that the excellent cooperative game Bread & Fred was announced for Switch for May 23 during the Japanese version of Indie World.
