  • New Endgame Crisis and Crisis Path: You can face a new synthetic threat in a brand new endgame crisis or become a threat to the balance of the universe yourself in a new crisis path.
  • Individualistic Machines: Your machine empires are no longer limited to one form, but can have individual personalities and more diverse histories and origins. You can further customize your empire with three new machine advancement paths.
  • New situations and expanded changes in authority: As you penetrate deeper into the mind of the machine, you must face new challenges for your society. Every decision is important and the only certainty is that your realm will never be the same after Ascension.
  • Three new origins:
    • Cybernetic Creed: The Empire pursues a divine calling: the sacred fusion of body and cybernetics. Augmentation is worship.
    • Synthetic Fertility: Once a thriving society, a new genetic disease renders the Empire unable to reproduce biologically. Digital salvation seems to be the only way to prevent extinction.
    • Arc Welder: A robotic society from a space-starved world searches the stars for resources.

The Machine Age also includes new reactive portraits, six new condition elements, two new mid-game structures (the Molten Arc Furnace and the powerful Dyson Swarm), new population traits, and seven new music tracks with synthetic beats.

At the same time as The Machine Age, the free update 3.12 “Andromeda” was released, which contains numerous bug fixes and updates for the machine worlds and empires. Among other things, the genetic, cybernetic and synthetic traditional trees (for owners of Utopia and Synthetic Dawn) rebalanced, improved various AI features related to leader assignment and economic management, and reworked the Fallen Empire buildings. Modders have the opportunity to introduce new crisis paths.
