[PS5] PS5 Nor Modifier from TheCod3r goes open-source – News and current affairs posted on LS

The PS5 hardware specialist, TheCod3r, recently updated its PS5 NOR Modifier tool, which now offers full UART support and has been released as open source software. This tool is designed to help update PS5 NOR flash files, especially for repairs.

PS5 NOR Edit allows you to edit the PS5 NOR file to convert between digital and disc editions, which can save a PS5 when the disc drive is faulty or missing. Using this free software, you can bring your console back to life by converting it from a disc edition to a digital edition, as well as changing the serial number and reported variant in order to replace your SPI flash ROM when the one -he dies.

This is especially useful when you don't have a matching disc drive, converting from disc to digital to allow for future updates (restoring online functionality keeping your PS5 up to date). If your SPI flash ROM dies (which is very common), you can now modify another console's dump and retain disk drive functionality.

Key features of the tool include:

– Read NOR files from PS5 (not currently supported for PS5 Slim)

– Write to PS5 NOR files (not currently supported for PS5 Slim)
