Paper Mario: a series with its own identity

It was in the 2000s that the saga Paper Mario starts. Without going into details, it serves as a sequel to the previously released Super Mario RPGs since we find certain Square Enix developers at Intelligent Systems. Unlike the popular platform-focused Mario games of the time, the Paper Mario series is looking towards adventure with turn-based combat. It is also through the writing of her story, finer, funnier and more generally more engaging, that she stands out.

A formula that finds its two king representatives in the first decade of the 21st century. Super Paper Mario is very popular, but it's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door that takes the crown of most popular. In 2024, he decides to restore the nobility of the GC episode by modernizing it in a remastered version on Nintendo Switch.

The first hours of play really convinced him on different levels : the combat system still remains effective, the writing remains in its original form and speaks to young and old alike. Finally, the first chapters predict an adventure that is as memorable as ever with its biomes and colorful characters.

The multiple back and forth breaks the rather dynamic rhythm of the game. And in the same way, clashes can quickly weigh on the tempo. We will therefore wait for the May 23release date of the game on Nintendo Switch, to definitively explain whether or not Paper Mario has not taken a turn.
