New Lamborghini Huracán successor to be launched in August with V8 plug-in hybrid system

Gamingdeputy reported on May 8 that the successor model of Lamborghini Huracán will be launched in August this year, and its iconic naturally aspirated V10 engine will be replaced by a plug-in hybrid system. It is reported that the power system will be based on a new V8 engine independently developed by Lamborghini, rather than simply borrowing an off-the-shelf version from Audi.

Federico Foschini, Lamborghini's head of sales and marketing, confirmed to Autocar that the new car will be launched in August, marking Lamborghini's electrification of its entire range. By then, the Huracán successor will compete in the supercar market together with the flagship V12 plug-in hybrid Lamborghini Revuelto and the just-released Lamborghini Urus SE.

Foskinny said that the reason why he chose to install a plug-in hybrid system for the Huracán successor model is because “the overall performance of the hybrid system will be better than the traditional internal combustion engine. The addition of electric motors can bring more things that traditional fuel vehicles cannot achieve.” features, such as active torque vectoring, to further unlock the engine’s potential.”

From the appearance, the new car will have obvious kinship with the flagship model released earlier this year. It will adopt a striking wedge-shaped body design, follow the “spaceship” design concept of Lamborghini design director Mitja Borkert, and will also incorporate There are many iconic Lamborghini design elements, such as hexagonal exhaust outlets, Y-shaped LED light design, and multiple air intakes throughout the body to increase downforce.

The new car will also be shortened to visually differentiate it from the Revuelto, which is 4947 mm long. For reference, the Huracán Tecnica, which is about to be discontinued, is 4567 mm long.

Lamborghini has yet to reveal whether the successor's V8 engine is related to the Urus's 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine, or whether it will be equipped with two electric motors on the front axle and a third integrated into the gearbox, like the 1,001-horsepower Revuelto. The three motors are still unknown.

The electric motor of the new car will be powered by a small and lightweight battery pack located in the central channel of the chassis. This battery pack may be the same as the 3.8kWh battery pack used in the Revuelto. The pure electric range is expected to be less than 10 miles (Gamingdeputy Note: about 16.09 kilometers ).

The advantage of the hybrid system is not only the improvement of fuel economy and emissions, but more importantly, the improvement of vehicle dynamic performance. The Revuelto makes clever use of its three electric motors: torque vectoring at the front helps offset supercar understeer, while the rear motor masks the low-rev lag of the high-performance V12.

It is worth mentioning that Lamborghini will share a production line with the Revuelto to manufacture the Huracán successor model. This will be the first time Lamborghini has mass-produced two supercars on the same production line, no doubt benefiting from the sharing of major architecture and electrical components.
