Microsoft Edge 125.0.2535.13 in the beta channel with new features in the workspace, tabs and more

Yesterday evening Microsoft released an update to version 125 (125.0.2535.13) for Edge in the beta channel. This will then be released as a stable release around May 16th. Some new features have been integrated into this version.

Reference is made again to the changes in the Dev versions 125.0.2492.1, 125.0.2506.0 and 125.0.2518.0. The note that the Microsoft Defender Application Guard extension is out of date has also been added.

The new features include:

  • Tabs that lie dormant for an extended period of time are disabled to save storage space. If a user navigates back to a tab that is no longer active, it must be reloaded. This can be done via the directive AutoDiscardSleepingTabsEnabled to get managed. This policy is enabled if the policy SleepingTabsEnabled is activated. (Is currently in controlled rollout)
  • Workspaces each have their own color, and this color is now displayed as a border in the browser window. Previously, the color was applied to the entire tab strip when the tabs were aligned horizontally and to the title bar when the tabs were aligned vertically. (Is currently in controlled rollout)
  • In workspaces, all of a user's favorites are now displayed in the favorites bar, with a dedicated workspace folder accessible from the bar. Previously, the favorites bar was replaced by the workspace favorites folder. (Is currently in controlled rollout)
