Martin Scorsese Unveils Potential Cast for His Upcoming Jesus Movie

Two actors approached for the new film by Martin Scorsese

At 81, Martin Scorsese is more active than ever. Barely recovered from the success of Killers of the Flower Moon, the filmmaker already wants to follow up with two new feature films, including a film dedicated to the life of Jesus. This project is the director's second dedicated directly to Christ after The Last Temptation of Christ released in 1988. And according to VarietyScorsese has already found two of his main actors.

Thus, the filmmaker would have set his sights on Andrew Garfield and Miles Teller. The first has already collaborated with the filmmaker on Silence, a film about faith and the arrival of Christianity in Japan. This first film released in 2017 in France was an adaptation of the eponymous book by Japanese author Shūsaku Endō. And this new feature film should also be based on another book by the author, A life of Jesus. Filming is due to begin later this year.

From one project to another

Beyond this first project, Martin Scorsese is already involved in other productions. After filming his film on Jesus, the filmmaker would obviously like to follow up with a biopic dedicated to Frank Sinatra. And here again, the casting would already be known as Leonardo DiCaprio should play the famous crooner, while Jennifer Lawrence should play Ava Gardner, his second wife. In addition, Martin Scorsese would also work on the television adaptation of Nerves on edge for Apple TV+, in direct collaboration with Steven Spielberg. The two directors would be executive producers here, more than thirty years after having already collaborated on the eponymous film by Martin Scorsese.
