Previous reports on the “Gothic Remake”:

Remake is being made by a new studio

Alkimia Interactive is responsible for the development of the newly created “Gothic”. The studio was founded in Barcelona specifically for the creation of the title. Piranha Bytes, on the other hand, wanted to focus more on the development of other titles such as “Elex”.

With the acquisition of Piranha Bytes by THQ Nordic, the rights to the “Gothic” trademark were transferred to the new owner. This now belongs to the Embracer Group and is made up of parts of the insolvent game manufacturer JoWooD Entertainment AG.

Before the bankruptcy, the last-mentioned company was responsible, among other things, for the market launch of “Gothic 2” and “Gothic 3”, which essentially closes the circle.
