In keeping with the unveiling of Apple's upcoming iPad event, there is now an accurate hint (via Android Authority), that Google is planning new accessories for its existing Pixel tablet. On top of that, a relaunch of the tablet is planned.

Why this is important: The first generation of the Pixel tablet ships with a dock to act as a smart hub and sound station. However, this combination drives up the price of the tablet.

That should change in the future: Accordingly, Google is planning a relaunch of the Pixel tablet without a docking station and new (optional) accessories.

There is speculation about two components:

  • A physical keyboard to which the tablet can be connected.
  • A stylus pen that you can use to doodle on your tablet.

On the one hand, the Mountain View manufacturer can offer its tablet at a lower price, which increases the attractiveness of the product for potential buyers.

On the other hand, users have the opportunity to purchase official accessories for the tablet in order to work with the device and be productive – although probably at a high price.

Both the keyboard and the pen should cost just under 100 euros each and be available in the colors Hazel and Porcelain.

The leaker Arsène Lupin (X formerly Twitter) has already been noticed in the past with correct leaks about the Galaxy S24 and the video about the Pixel 8a, so this information could definitely be true.

Is there (not) a Pixel Tablet 2 coming?

The existing tablet without a hub and with optional accessories will be announced at Google I/O. A completely new model could follow later in the year.

  • Previous reports surrounding Google products show that the manufacturer plans to equip all upcoming models except the Pixel 8a with the latest Tensor G4 chip.
  • It's conceivable that we won't see a Pixel Tablet 2 until later in the year, when the search engine giant unveils its latest smartphone flagships in the form of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Fold 2.
  • In addition to a better processor, the tablet is rumored to be equipped with a better Exynos modem from Samsung and will therefore be available for purchase as an optional 5G model.
