Get Ready to Wait for the Highly Anticipated Release of Fallout 5

It was to be expected: the enormous success of the Prime Video series put the Fallout franchise in the spotlight. Despite extremely radioactive enthusiasm, Bethesda nevertheless wishes to keep a cool head.

Nine years after the release of the fourth installment and six years after 76, fans of the Fallout games are hungry for a new post-apocalyptic adventure. But Bethesda does not yet seem ready to respond to their wishes. The studio already has several fairly time-consuming projects on the go.

Fallout 5 stuck in cryogenic sleep in Vault 111

We now know this well: a good adaptation of games allows for a strong revival of interest in the video game works from which it is inspired. The excellent Fallout series is the latest explosive example in this area. Most of the eponymous games have thus seen the emergence of a veritable mushroom cloud of new Vault residents. The fact that these were notably the subject of free offers via Prime Gaming undoubtedly has something to do with it.

Regardless, Bethesda now finds itself in the spotlight. Fans waiting for Fallout 5 are reminded of the good memories of the studio. In an exchange of posts on X.com, veteran Emil Pagliarulo responded to some of them. The most popular question was about the very long wait between each game of the American giant. In short, he indicated that “ the teams are currently busy elsewhere “. Remember that The Elder Scrolls 6 is Bethesda's major new project. But its release may not arrive before at least 2026. The next Fallout game may therefore not arrive before… at least 2030.

Lack of personnel in the Wasteland

However, it should be noted that Todd Howard would have explained to the directors of the Fallout series what they are planning for the fifth opus. The goal is to avoid creating any confusion or spoiling plot elements. Bethesda would therefore have at least a strong idea regarding the continuation of the franchise. Emil Pagliarulo also seeks to reassure those calling for Fallout 5. “ When it comes to Starfield, most of the studio's time has been taken up with improving and developing its technical side. But all of this can be reused in the future, which speeds up production “. Most of the work on the engine was obviously done with Starfield. Perhaps the wait for Bethesda's next games will be shorter than expected.

However, another piece of data should not be overlooked: the number of people working on all these games. Emil Pagliarulo specifies on this subject that a large part of the team focused on Fallout was allocated to the development of 76. “ It always comes back to the most important resource of all: people. We have very talented people, but they need time to do great things. Unfortunately, we can't do everything at once. “. He tries to conclude with humor: “ Fallout 4 Institute scientists are hard at work cloning employees for this purpose. But it seems to me that things ended badly for them in the game… “. Let's hope that Fallout 5 will indeed not share the same fate as the Institute, regardless of the time spent on its development.
