Fans of role-playing games in the world of Mario are spoiled for the end of the Switch's life. Adored by a large number of gamers, often referred to as one of the best games on the GameCube and last true RPG pure juice of this sub-series, it has finally been brought out of the closet by Intelligent Systems To our greatest delight. In combat, all essential information fits on a single line at the top of the screen, while the indications linked to action commands are much clearer and appear above the enemies rather than on the left, a very wise choice .

Along the same lines, information from Goomelia are displayed more clearly and not only via her speech bubbles when she uses her skill. For the rest, the classic turn-based approach with the possibility of blocking or countering blows with the right timing is still just as effective. The developers have also thought of newcomers by adding an NPC to Port-Lacanaïewhich then appears in other places, a Toad appointed Master Castagne providing tutorial information and the opportunity to practice ! It's a welcome addition that should help many, especially since the subtleties of gameplay are still quite numerous.
The entire soundtrack having been re-orchestrated, fans who prefer the original will be able to quickly obtain a badge in the shape of a GameCube called Nostalgic tunescosting no Point Badge to equip it and which therefore changes theOST in that of the time. These badges also have a list in the tab Newspaper listing those unlocked, for a total of 86, one more with the one we just described. Sections related to Indicators of Goomeliato the world map whose areas are now colored to the rhythm of the chapters, the list of recipes numbering 58 and much more are included in this very practical tab. More anecdotal, the Toad of Decanter obsessed with video games now mentions other productions from the publisher gradually, while the title screen gradually adds the different key characters of the adventure. Finally, the door into the basement of Port-Lacanaïe leading to a room where a glitch allowed access to areas that were supposed to be inaccessible at first has simply been replaced by a crack.
Our first impressions: Strongly!
This Paper Mario: The Millennium Door on Switch is therefore well on its way to being an excellent remake on paper, retaining what made the original charming while making some modifications improving comfort for today's audience. However, it remains to be seen whether real new features bringing added value in terms of gameplay will be present later and whether the slightly frustrating passages have been left as is or not. But that's a story for another day that will wait for our test to be told.
