Fedora Asahi Remix 40 Released for Apple ARM Chips

Presented distribution Fedora Asahi Remix 40, designed for installation on Mac computers equipped with ARM chips developed by Apple. Fedora Asahi Remix 40 is based on the Fedora Linux 40 package base and is equipped with the Calamares installer. This is the second release published since the Asahi project migrated from Arch to Fedora, which helped the team Asahi Linux focus efforts on hardware reverse engineering without spending resources on distribution support, which is now handled by the working group Fedora Asahi S.I.G..

Fedora Asahi Remix is provided work opportunity on Apple MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, Mac Studio and iMac systems equipped with Apple M1 and M2 ARM chips. KDE Plasma 6 is supplied as the main user environment, but an option based on GNOME 46 is available as an option. Both editions use Wayland, and the XWayland DDX server is used to run X11 applications. The graphics drivers provide support for OpenGL 4.6 and OpenGL ES 3.2, which is officially certified by the Khronos consortium (native graphics drivers for Apple M1 chips implement only the OpenGL 4.1 specification).
