There were some interesting new announcements at this year's Pokémon Day. However, the official Pokémon Channel saved probably the biggest news until the end: In 2025, a new Pokémon offshoot, Legends: ZA, will be released for the Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Legends: ZA officially announced
Coming soon for Pokémon fans Replenishment on the Nintendo Switch. Because Game Freak is working on a new series part with the name Pokémon Legends: ZA. This one should 2025 appear on the handheld console – a precise release period was not announced.

There is no gameplay to be seen in the announcement trailer for the new Pokémon game, but the almost two-minute video still provides a few interesting clues. But see for yourself:
Long-time fans of the series will have noticed it straight away: It's going back to that Kalos region from Pokémon X and Y. As a reminder: The two games of the sixth generation were released in autumn 2013 – at that time for the Nintendo 3DS. So the release is now over ten years back.
But that's not the only comeback that fans of the series can look forward to, either the mega evolutions are back. These were also introduced back then with Editions

What else does Pokémon Legends: ZA have to offer?
There was no concrete information about the gameplay during the presentation. But since it is a Pokémon Legends spin-off, it is reasonable to assume that Game Freak special attention to the open game world lays – that was at least one of Arceus' greatest strengths.
In addition, the development of the city seems Illumina City to play an important role – this is at least addressed in the trailer. So maybe players can make specific decisions that affect the cityscape, so that the city looks a little different for each player. However, this is currently pure speculation.
What also causes speculation is that planned release in 2025. Because many players were expecting a new part to be released this year. However, no one seems to be disappointed about it. The players are rather happy that the developers are using the additional time to create one Better performance on the Nintendo Switch to achieve and provide the finishing touches.
Furthermore, it is quite possible that Pokémon Legends: ZA will be one of the launch games for the Nintendo Switch 2. The rumor mill is currently assuming that the Switch successor will appear in the first quarter of 2025 – so the timing could be right. Let us surprise.
