Fallout 4's next-gen update “really screwed” the Fallout London project | Xbox

Since last year, the ambitious Fallout London mod developed by Team FOLON has caused a lot of noise, particularly because it is a new Fallout game taking place for the very first time outside the United States .

Fallout 4's next-gen update “really screwed” the Fallout London project

The mod is thus based on Fallout 4 and the late announcement of the release date of the next-gen update of Fallout 4 had once again forced the developer team to postpone Fallout London, particularly due to changes related to the “Fallout 4 Script Extender”.

Dean Carter, the project manager, gave an interview to the BBC, the opportunity to confide what he and the team think of Bethesda's decision to set the Fallout 4 update for April 25, while The Fallout London release date has been set for April 23 for a while now.

While the Fallout 4 update was initially scheduled for the end of 2023, Bethesda finally announced a postponement for the beginning of 2024, without further details. For its part, Team FOLLON had set the release date of Fallout LONDON for April 23, after the TV series and especially on St. George's Day.

Unfortunately, the announcement of the release of the next-gen update of Fallout 4 for April 25 has disrupted the team's plans. This situation would leave the studio with only two days to make changes, which “really put Team FOLLON in deep trouble.”

Then Bethesda delayed it and randomly deployed it on the 25th, […] which for a lot of us was, I don't want to say suspicious because that makes it seem malicious, but if you were a big company and there was a fantasy series that had just come out, you'd think you'd like to have the update ready the same day the series came out. Well, it fell on the 25th, which is right after um, and I don't think it's malicious, but it just seems like a very arbitrary date for it to fall. Indeed, we can say that it really put us in trouble.

Dean Carter also deplores the lack of communication with Bethesda, which is also probably responsible for this new postponement of Fallout London to an as yet undetermined date.

He also underlines the fact that the project is made for fans and that it arouses so much enthusiasm that certain videos get more views than Fallout 76 trailers.

What is Fallout London?

Fallout London takes place outside of the United States for the first time and invites players to discover a post-apocalyptic experience in London, the opportunity to enjoy all of its heritage and stories. The project is possible thanks to Team FOLON, made up of industry professionals, modders and enthusiasts from around the world, bringing together a panel of numerous skills: writers, 3D artists, voice actors and many other creative people.

Since 2019, Team FOLON has spent tens of thousands of hours creating the world of Fallout London. The team can thus boast of proposing a city made up of 15 districts.

Players will also be able to count on a multitude of new objects, a London soundscape, new gameplay mechanics, original quests and even 7 companions, including an adorable dog.

The team pointed out that more than 90,000 lines were recorded, or 1.5 times the number present in Skyrim or Fallout New Vegas. All of this will be available to discover at a now undetermined date, on PC. You can find out more here.
