The community quickly drew a comparison with the popular “Mass Effect” series. After Archetype announced earlier this year that your decisions and the resulting consequences play an important role in “Exodus,” an official Q&A from the developers gave us more details about the sci-fi role-playing game. On the one hand, Archetype discussed the role of US actor Matthew McConaughey.

Creative Director James Ohlen said: “Matthew’s role in the game is really important. His character will have a big presence in the game. From beginning to end and in the game's epilogue. He’s just doing a great job so far and we love having him on the team.”

“Of course there’s a twist in his character too, because you know how much we love twists.”

An encounter with numerous alien races

The story of “Exodus” begins in a fictional future. With humanity needing to flee a dying Earth, their remnants settled in the Omega-Centauri Cluster. There, people not only encounter the Celestials, a dominant species descended from Earth's ancient humans.

Olen continued: “Everything in the Exodus universe has a terrestrial origin. However, they have evolved over tens of thousands of years, so some of them have become incredibly strange, wonderful and bizarre creatures, often much stranger than the classic aliens you might see in other science fiction franchises.”

“This includes things like the Awakened – intelligent animals from Earth. There are tons of cool things you can encounter, interact with, and of course fight. So yes, there is a huge diversity of species other than the Celestials,” the creative director added.

This role is played by the companions

According to the developers, your companions play an important role. Here, Archetype aims to deliver a “diverse and exciting” cast. “Companions are a huge part of Exodus,” noted executive producer Chad Robertson.

“We understand how important they are to the players. They are also super important to us. We have put together an amazing, diverse group of companions.” Unfortunately, the question remained open as to whether in “Exodus” we would have the opportunity to design a main character based on a non-human species.

“As decades pass in Exodus, there will definitely be the introduction of new characters to the game. But there is also a core that stays with you throughout the journey,” Robertson elaborated. “This is really important to us because we want to build emotional connections with your companions, your loved ones and other main characters in the game.”

“So you will see how these evolve with you, because some of them will go with you on your travels and some of them will stay at home. Ultimately, there is this core that you will see again and again and with which you will build deep, fundamental relationships. In addition to new ones you will see when you get home and in other aspects of the game,” it concludes.

Further details about the sci-fi role-playing game can be found in the attached video. Archetype has not yet revealed when “Exodus” will be released.
