Exciting New Update Unveiled: Get Ready for Major Changes

Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games' next-generation engine, has just been upgraded to version 5.4. This update intends to push its already impressive capabilities even further.

The new version of Unreal Engine 5 had already displayed its prowess last month as part of GDC 2024 with the annual State of Unreal conference. This is now in the hands of the developers, with many particularly promising contributions for them, but also for the players.

Unreal Engine 5 shows off its promising performance

Until now, Unreal Engine 5 has been impressive, but also terribly greedy. To take advantage of its flagship technologies like Nanite, Lumen or even MetaHuman, sacrifices had to be made on current consoles, or an absolutely monstrous PC was required. With version 5.4, Epic Games has therefore seriously focused on improving the performance of its engine. The sacrosanct 60 FPS should therefore be easier to achieve on current hardware thanks to this new version.

This effort on engine performance includes improving the compilation of shaders. This should result in a clear evolution in terms of fluidity. In addition to a more stable framerate, the stutters due to said compilation should be much less present. “ While many developers target a 60Hz experience, we have invested considerable effort into improving rendering performance in Unreal Engine 5.4 », Tells Epic Games in the video below.

A future that seems bright for Epic Games' flagship engine

With this new version, Unreal Engine 5 therefore shows itself to be even more promising. Given the very upcoming release of Hellblade 2, however, it seems that the Ninja Theory title will not be able to benefit from it. However, this will not be the case for Marvel 1943 Rise of Hydra in particular. This new game produced by Amy Hennig indeed had access to all these new features in early access. This also allowed fans to be treated to a trailer of almost superhuman beauty.

Let's hope that the many other games powered by Unreal Engine 5 will be of the same ilk, with good performance on the program. We think in particular of The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, among many other extremely anticipated titles created in partnership with Epic Games.
