Spoiler:

This article may spoil the next season of the Netflix series One Piece.

An enemy reveals itself

The video features Iñaki Godoy – who plays Monkey D. Luffy in the Netflix live-action series – wishing the captain of the Straw Hat Crew a happy birthday. And for the occasion, he brought back a cake, what a nice touch! A seemingly ordinary cake, but not for those who know the manga well. Fans can indeed see the announcement of the arrival of a well-known character from the One Piece universe, the antagonist of the Little Garden arc: Galdino known as Mister 3. Indeed, whether it is the candle-shaped piece or the “3” as a wick, the reference is obvious, but hardly surprising.

In the original manga by Eiichiro Oda, Mister 3 meets the Straw Hat Crew while stationed on the prehistoric island of Little Garden. The antagonist is then tasked, with his teammate Miss Goldenweek, with eliminating Luffy and his friends after they discover the identity of Mister 0, the leader of the criminal organization Baroque Works. To do this, Mister 3 uses trickery and his powers inherited from the Ciro-fruit, giving him the ability to generate and shape wax as he wishes. When he uses his abilities, the tip of his hair styled in a “3” ignites, like a candle, and the character almost destroyed Luffy's entire crew single-handedly.

What is the cape?

Mister 3 being obviously confirmed as part of season 2 of the Netflix series, there is a good chance that Iñaki Godoy's crew will indeed pass through Little Garden. But sinceOda himself confirmed that Chopper will be present in future episodesand given the number of adventures that await the protagonists of the TV show, fans are already worried about future story cuts. Indeed, the first season ends shortly before the town of Loguetown, leading the second to have to adapt the adventure that takes place there, in addition to Cap de Jumeaux and Laboon, Whiskey Peak and the revelation of Vivi, Little Garden precisely, and finally Drum, the kingdom of the blue-nosed reindeer. Adventures that would take place between the end of Season 1 and the meeting with Chopper, all in 8 episodes!

Theories then abound within the fan community, some believe that events will stop just before Wapol returns to Drum Island, once Luffy, Sanji and Nami meet Chopper. This sequence would thus respect the author's announcements and would allow the possibility of keeping the possible season 3 to cover the scope of the events in Alabasta, significantly longer than the other arcs before it. If no additional information has yet been revealed, fans continue to wait firmly for the sequel to the Netflix adaptation. To date, season 2 has been made official but a release date is still awaited.
