Elden Ring: Hidetaka Miyazaki confirms that Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC | Xbox

More than two years after the release of Elden Ring, the famous FromSoftware title will finally welcome its long-awaited DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. With more than a month to go before its availability, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's director, has just confirmed that there will be no other expansion.

Shadow of the Erdtree will be the one and only DLC for Elden Ring

In February, Hidetaka Miyazaki told IGN that Shadow of the Erdtree in no way marked the end of the Elden Ring saga and that it was not excluded that a second expansion would see the light of day afterwards.

We have no plans at this time to create a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don't want to rule out the possibility. We think there might be something in the future.

Finally, it seems that the plans are now clearer, since he has just declared to Campfire Camp that Shadow of the Erdtree will be and the one and only DLC.

This is the first and last DLC. We have no plans to add additional content to Elden Ring.

We are now set! Fortunately, our wait should be rewarded, since Shadow of the Erdtree promises to be substantial. The DLC will be available from June 21, 2024 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC for €39.99.

What to expect from Shadow of the Erdtree?

Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke with JV, thus helping to clarify what to expect from Shadow of the Erdtree in terms of content. The expansion is thus the largest produced by the studio to date, in particular thanks to the introduction of a new zone, namely the Land of Shadows.

FromSoftware not only created a new playground with new stories, monstrosities and bosses, but also brought in completely new mechanics. Some of them were already studied during the development of Elden Ring, but did not really fit Between Earth.

Thus, players will be able to count on no less than eight new types of weapons, such as throwing objects (although there are already some in the base game), or unarmed combat.

Hidetaka Miyazaki also provided some details on the temporality of the extension. It will take place at the same time as the base game, and to access it, you will need to have previously defeated Mohg and Radhan. IGNwho was also able to conduct an interview, reports that “in terms of scale or size”, the playing field is “comparable, if not larger, than the Necrolimbe area in the base game”.

Players can expect a level of exploration and an experience similar to what they can experience today with Elden Ring. To discover this mountain of content, it will then be necessary to go to the cocoon from which an arm protrudes at the very beginning of the trailer. The most diligent will have understood, all this obviously has a link with Miquella!
