According to current reports, we recently met other developers. We're talking about the staff at the Pieces Interactive studio. Together with THQ Nordic, they released the reboot of the survival horror classic “Alone in the Dark” last month, which apparently did not meet commercial expectations.

At least that's what the environmental artist Helena Hansen's statements suggest. On X (formerly Twitter), Hansen confirmed that there were layoffs at Pieces Interactive, which also affected her.

The extent of the austerity measures is still unclear

“I’m being fired,” Hansen commented on the development at Pieces Interactive. “I'll do a better post with my links and all once the feelings calm down, but ugh. My heart and that of my colleagues are breaking right now.” Since Hansen refers to “her colleagues,” it is assumed that other employees were laid off.

So far, however, neither the studio itself nor the parent companies THQ Nordic or Embracer have wanted to comment on Hansen's information. It is therefore currently unclear how many people at Pieces Interactive will lose their jobs.

It is conceivable that the layoffs were due to the commercial performance of “Alone in the Dark”.

THQ Nordic did not give specific sales figures, according to the disappointing test ratings But silence on sales figures usually says more than a thousand words. If an official statement follows, we will of course submit it immediately.
