At the end of last week, Valve deployed an update for its competitive shooter Counter Strike 2. An update which does not revolutionize the content but which allows certain players to overcome a possible handicap… linked to their hands.

Counter Strike 2: a change especially in form

You may not know it, but it is Counter Strike 2 which was released at the end of September. It follows ten years of unchallenged reign of Counter Strike: Global Offensive in the world of competitive FPS. A change of facade that hardly changes the substance of the gameplay. Something that we feel after a few hours of play in this CS 2: the handling remains the same as CS: GO or Counter Strike: Source. However, we deplore the absence of iconic FPS modes like the gungame.

As we mentioned in our test published on the day of release, it is mainly the graphic redesign that is highlighted. A pleasure for the eyes of neophytes which is appreciable especially as it has a functional aim for regular players. In fact, it is, for example, the behavior of the smoke from smoke bombs which reacts to bullets being fired.. Enough to complicate certain fights and add a certain layer of tactics for amateur players. Valve adds new features from time to time, as was the case earlier this week. And once again, it only concerns a fringe of players.

Counter Strike 2: switch the weapon to the left

And yes, not all video game players are right-handed. An observation that can be made even for the world population. The various censuses estimate 9 right-handed people for 1 left-handed person. If we transpose this ratio to Counter Strike fans; It is therefore for the 10% who prefer to play with their left hand that its latest update was made. In the latest news post to see on the game's Steam page, we can read :

The first new feature concerns the subjective view: you can now define which hand holds your weapon (left or right) from the settings. You can also change dominant hand in the middle of a handle using the associated shortcut (H by default on AZERTY/QWERTY keyboards).

Among the other changes, we also note a reworked store (including the minimum money received at the end of the round) or even reticles specific to each grenade. Be careful not to be too efficient following these modifications: it has already arrived at the studio ban players who moved their mouse too quickly.
