Corpse Party 2: Darkness Distortion confirmed on PS4, Switch and Steam – News

Not to be confused with Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient, an abandoned episodic game which one wonders why it is still on sale on Steam, Corpse Party 2: Darkness Distortion is announced as the real new chapter in the saga of the author Makoto Kedouin. A saga not recommended for the faint of heart to discover in the main episodes which are Corpse Party, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows and Corpse Party: Blood Drive, the PC being to date the only platform to bring together all the episodes in the same place.

If you are familiar with these titles, the synopsis of Corpse Party 2: Darkness Distortion will not particularly surprise you since it suffices to replace the school with the hospital. Three high school girls, Haruka Nanami, Nemu Takanashi and Maria Hitsugi, decide to explore the disused Amare Est Vivere hospital to test a local urban legend and in the process gain some subscribers for the streamer Nemu. Too bad, because the legend of “The Mercy of Ayame” is real, which means that the three friends have triggered an old curse and are sent to a dimension cut off from their world. A risk that they could have foreseen if they had played the first Corpse Party.

A special feature of this new opus is the possibility of exploring the hospital in the first and third person. In all cases, the game opts for 3D production, as in Corpse Party: Blood Drive. “ This new perspective complements the series' visual novel-style storytelling, combining updated visuals with gruesome descriptions and goosebump-inducing binaural audio, accompanied by the original Japanese voices. », Confirms the press release from Marvelous Europe.

The publisher also confirms that the game is divided into six chapters, not counting the eight additional scenarios, and that plenty of abominable bad endings await the poor heroines in their quest to escape Ayame Kirishima's curse. Presented as an ideal entry point for those who are unfamiliar with the series, this episode should still offer references intended for connoisseurs. Finally, a note to fans: the Switch version will benefit from a box release at a price of 50 euros. The price of the digital versions is not yet known. As for the release date, we're not taking a huge risk by banking on something close to Halloween.
