Bug prevents progress in New Game Plus

There is a new bug making the rounds in “Final Fantasy 16” that can affect your progress in the game. Square Enix has spoken out about the issue.

A few days ago, Square Enix released “The Rising Tide,” the second and final expansion of the action role-playing game “Final Fantasy 16.” However, the associated update didn't just bring new content into the game. According to the developers, a very annoying error has also crept in.

Developers give a workaround

Like Square Enix via X announced that a new bug has appeared in “Final Fantasy 16” that can affect game progress. The problem is already being investigated and attempts are being made to find a solution as soon as possible. We also apologize for the inconvenience and thank the players for their understanding.

But what actually happened?

According to the official report, players who start a New Game Plus and skip the prologue may not have any party members on the screen. This prevents you from completing the main mission “Random Encounter”.

Although there is only a small chance of this error occurring, the developers have addressed a temporary solution. If you receive this error before the release of a corresponding patch, then you should load a save that was created immediately before the start of New Game Plus. You should then travel to another location on the world map, save the game and then start New Game + with the new save. And of course you shouldn't skip the prologue.

As soon as Square Enix reveals more information about the upcoming patch, we will bring you up to date. Until then, you should at least be careful when starting a second round.

“Final Fantasy 16” was released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 in June 2023. With “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide,” those responsible have added two expansions that bring the story about Clive Rosfield and Co. to a conclusion. How did you like the new content?
