If you're not a comic book fan, you may not have seen an initiative called Batman: The World happening in 2021. As indicated by his name, it was an anthology in which around ten different creative teams from the four corners of the world invented a story of the Dark Knight with their codes. Faced with the success of the project, DC Comics decided to reiterate the initiative, but this time with the most cult antagonist of the protector of Gotham: the Joker.

The Joker reinvented around the world

Scheduled for a worldwide release on September 17 (except in France in the absence of confirmation from Urban Comics), Joker: The World will therefore be an anthology bringing together stories written, drawn and colored by artists from 13 different countries. To give you the exact list, we find Spain, Germany, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Cameroon, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and United States. Compared to the previous anthology Batman: The World, we note that Argentina has been added to the invited list, while Russia, China and especially France will not return. Damage !

As for the artists already announced, we find well-known names from the United States like Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok, just that. As a reminder, the first is a genius author who had the heyday of Superman and Flash, notably by writing Flashpoint, before being one of the co-founders of DC Films in charge of the DC Extended Universe until 2018, while the second is an equally brilliant artist who shone by drawing both Batman and Justice League. That’s why he designed the cover of this anthology. In addition to the two American artists, we find authors from all over the world like Satoshi Miyagawa, David Rubin, German Peralta, or even Alvaro Fong Varela. All names will be revealed later.

France shunned? Really ?

Given the importance of the project, it is therefore quite surprising that at present, we do not have the slightest information on the French release of such a work. Certainly, France is not present in the anthology as could be the case in Batman: The World, but we remind you that Joker: Folie à deux comes out on October 2… two weeks after this comic. As saying that the timing is perfect for the book to ride on the popularity of this long-awaited feature film. In any case, we are still waiting for information from Urban Comics, which publishes DC Comics comics here.
