With Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft has one of the most successful game series in its portfolio and the new Assassin's Creed: Codename Red is intended to continue the success story – according to reports also in the current calendar year 2024. The new title then transports you to the much desired setting in feudal Japan . We'll probably find out pretty soon what that looks like in concrete terms.

In view of the planned release this year, a game presentation was to be expected soon anyway; A hot candidate was June, when experience has shown that the year's big blockbusters are shown in detail. While the Ubisoft Forward planned for next month was already a realistic scenario for the presentation of Assassin's Creed: Red, this now seems to be more or less certain.

At least that's what the usually well-informed colleagues at Insider Gaming report, in the person of the well-known Tom Henderson. Accordingly, they were able to verify through their own sources that Ubisoft will indeed show the first gameplay from Assassin's Creed: Red at the in-house streaming event.

The Ubisoft Forward is scheduled to take place this year on June 10, 2024. There will then be hands-on opportunities for the press on the occasion of the Summer Games Fest. According to Henderson, more detailed previews should be available to read from June 12, 2024, when the corresponding embargo falls.

It is still unclear whether there will be a formal announcement of the game in advance of Ubisoft Forward and whether it will then simply be presented in detail during the event. Ubisoft had already used such an approach in the past by releasing a cinematic trailer including the official name in advance, but saving gameplay until Ubisoft Forward.

Assassin's Creed: Red will feature two playable assassins: a woman named Naoe and the male samurai Yasuke, who is based on a real person. In addition to Codename Red, the big new franchise hub Assassin's Creed Infinity is also set to launch, which will then also bring a uniform engine for all future Assassin's Creed titles, called Anvil Pipeline. Using this unified engine has required development studios to recalibrate and rework everything within the series, including animations, parkour system, dynamic weather and more. Accordingly, the development times for new parts are slightly longer. According to Codename Red, Assassin's Creed: Hexe will probably be released in 2026 and will feature Elsa, a single solo protagonist in the age of witch hunts in Germany.
