Armadillo, wolf armor and new wolf species are here

This week the “Minecraft” update 1.20.80 (2.87 on PS4) was released. It added the armadillo to the game, whose scales can be used to craft a new item. New wolf species are also included, so there is not only a bright companion, but also variations in many other colors and patterns.

Armadillo as a new mob species

The armadillo (Armadillo) is in “Minecraft” a passive mob that spawns in the savannah and mountains. It prefers to eat spider eyes. And the only mobs that are afraid of the armadillo are spiders.

The armadillo curls up when it feels threatened. This happens when attacked, when undead mobs approach, or when a player sprints nearby.

When curled up, the armadillo will occasionally glance around. And if it doesn't detect a threat for four seconds, it rolls back up.

  • When curled up, the shell reduces damage dealt and can completely resist weak attacks.
  • The armadillo regularly drops scales that can be used to craft wolf armor.

Wolf Armor Information

The wolf armor made with armadillo scales in Minecraft protects the wolf from most sources of damage until it loses all durability and breaks. The armor can be repaired with armadillo scales, but only by the owner. And only the owner is allowed to put this armor on his wolf.

  • It is possible to dye wolf armor in a similar manner to leather armor.
  • The wolf armor can be removed using scissors.
  • When the wolf dies, he drops the armor.

With armor, wolves have 20 hearts (40 health points) instead of just 10 hearts (20 health points). They can now withstand more damage and feeding the wolf heals twice as much health.
