Absolut stops exporting spirits to Russia. Don’t want the company’s employees to suffer.

TV4 states that the spirits company Absolut Companys will end the criticized export of its products to Russia.

In an internal email to Absolut’s employees, the company’s CEO Stephanie Durroux writes that they stop exporting to Russia because they do not want to expose employees and partners to the massive criticism that the company has been exposed to since it became known that they resumed exporting to Russia.She further writes that they want to nurture the “long-term and trusting” relationships with Swedish stakeholders.

When it first became known that Absolut had resumed its exports to Russia, many demanded that the company’s products be boycotted.Several restaurateurs around Sweden have since removed Absolut and other products from Pernod Ricard from their restaurants.

Whether the other alcohol companies that are part of Pernod Ricard will continue their exports to Russia is not clear.
