Packaging and equipment
The A4Tech 2Drumtek B20 headset is packed in a small white cardboard box with a transparent window on the front side, allowing you to see the case with the headphones before removing them.On different sides, the key characteristics of the model and its features are presented.
The case with the headphones inside are located on a plastic substrate, under which detailed instructions are hidden in the form of a booklet and a short USB-A to USB-C cable for charging the case.
Design
A4Tech 2Drumtek B20 headphones are available in three colors – white, gray and mint green.My version is in white, but the most interesting option, in my opinion, is green.
The case of the model is made of plastic and has a standard oval shape.The design is completely familiar, except for the lid.It is transparent, which, unexpectedly, turned out to be convenient.
Firstly, without opening the case, you can see if you have removed the headphones, and, secondly, by the LEDs on them, which are clearly visible through the cover, you can understand whether they are charging or the process has already been completed.
The lid is fixed with a magnet, it opens quite easily, but not spontaneously.Also, it will not slam shut, even if you shake the case hard.
The seats are marked with the symbols R and L. It is impossible to confuse them, since the headphones simply do not sit in someone else’s place.They are held firmly by magnets, they do not fall out by themselves.
The surface of the cover is matte, therefore non-marking.The plastic case is pleasant to the touch and durable.For almost three weeks of use, there were no traces of operation on it.
On the front side of the case is the name 2Drumtek, on the back – the name of the A4Tech brand.At the bottom is the USB-C connector, and next to it is a status LED that lights up red while charging.
The case is small.According to my measurements, they are 60 * 54 * 23 mm.
A4Tech 2Drumtek B20 are made in the form factor of in-ear headphones.Despite the fact that this type is not new, the design is somewhat different from the usual one in that the embedded part is rather strongly lowered down, forming an angle of about 40 degrees with the leg.
In addition, it has a somewhat barrel-shaped shape: unlike other models of this type, here the headphone head does not taper towards the edge, but remains approximately the same size.
Due to this, the fit is tight, the earpiece does not fall out of the ear.However, after a while, it is clearly felt that it is too big for the ear canal, at least for mine.Thus, it is not very comfortable for me to stay in this headset for a long time, so I have to periodically interrupt.
On the front of the head you can see the speaker mesh, on the inside – a compensation hole, at the bottom of the mount with a leg – a microphone.
The leg of the headset is short, the name 2Drumtek is indicated on the outside of it, an LED indicator is visible above it.In the same area is the touch control zone.The LED flashes blue-red when the headset is in the pairing state, red when the battery capacity is less than 30%, yellow when the charge is between 30% and 70%, and green when above 70%.
At the end of the leg are contacts for charging and another microphone.At the bottom of the inside there is a designation of the earpiece orientation – right (R) or left (L).
The body of the headset is plastic, the surface is matte, so there are no traces in the form of prints or scratches.The size of the headphones, according to my measurements, is 32 * 20 * 17 mm.
A nice bonus is IPX7 waterproofing.Headphones are not afraid of sweat or other moisture, which makes them suitable for athletes.
In general, I like the headset’s stylish design, build quality, non-staining surface, comfortable transparent lid, informative indication.
The dimensions of the case are convenient: you can carry it in your pocket along with some other little things, but the headphone head turned out to be too large for me, so the fit, although reliable, is uncomfortable.
Connection and control
Connecting the A4Tech 2Drumtek B20 is simple.For the first time, simply open the lid to put the headset into pairing mode.After that, we find it on the smartphone and issue the necessary permissions.
Bluetooth 5.2 is used for communication.Basic codecs supported are SBC and AAC.
There are no connection issues.The search is carried out quickly, the headphones immediately “cling” to the smartphone.When disconnected from one device, they are immediately connected to another, if previously synchronized with it and Bluetooth is activated on it.This allows you to quickly change the sound source, which compensates for the lack of a multipoint function.
The control of the model is touch.The corresponding zones of the headset are sensitive, which, on the one hand, leads to a quick response to actions, but, on the other hand, is fraught with accidental clicks if you inadvertently touch the headphones.
By default, the control is as follows:
- A long press on the right earpiece increases the volume, on the left – decreases.
- A single tap on either earbud stops and plays music, and also allows you to take a call.
- Double tapping the right earbud will skip the song forward, the left earbud will skip the song backwards.
- Triple tap on any earpiece to activate the voice assistant.
- Holding your finger for 2 seconds resets the call or turns it off if the conversation is started.
The headset does not have a wearing sensor, so if you take out the headphones and do not plan to put them in a case where they turn off by themselves, then you need to stop playback yourself.
Usage impressions
The call quality of the headset is stable.The sound is transmitted without gaps and delays, so the headset is suitable for watching movies or playing games.
For sound reproduction in the novelty, 13 mm drivers and a proprietary hybrid membrane, consisting of carbon fiber and nanocelium using biotechnology, are responsible.Thanks to this, the manufacturer promises clear high frequencies, good bass and pronounced mids in headphones.
In my opinion, what was promised is true.I can’t say that the sound quality is amazing, but it provides a decent result so that in the A4Tech 2Drumtek B20 headset you can not only listen to music in the background, but also really enjoy your favorite compositions.The sound is loud though.About 70% is enough for me for a comfortable level at home, on a noisy street I add up to 80%.
In terms of sound quality, I would call this model universal.It is pleasant to listen to music of different genres in it, and it is comfortable to play, and you can watch movies, and it is also suitable for listening to podcasts.
The microphone provides good voice transmission, sufficient for communication at home or somewhere in a public place.In the latter case, the interlocutors still note background noise, but it does not significantly overlap my voice.
As for autonomy, the headphone battery lasts for 5 hours of listening to music.The case provides another 15 hours of operation.These indicators are correct, the model demonstrates approximately as much in life.The total operating time can be considered average, since today many, even more affordable TWS headphones, can work for at least a day.But 5 hours is a good indicator, although not the maximum.
Charging the case is carried out via USB-C connector, it takes about 1.5 hours.The same amount of time is required to replenish the battery capacity of the headset.
Conclusion
The price of the new A4Tech 2Drumtek B20 model is about 2500 rubles.
For this money, the user gets a decent sound, a good microphone, high-quality assembly, moisture protection and an interesting design.Also pleased with the modern USB-C connector, simple and intuitive operation, stable connection and signal transmission without delay.
Among the shortcomings, one can single out not the most successful earpiece shape, which affects the comfort of fit, the average battery life of the case, as well as the lack of Multipoint and a wearing sensor.
The first moment is individual: it may well be that the landing will be comfortable for someone.
The remaining cons depend on your habits.I rarely go on long trips, so 5+15 hours is enough for me.The wear sensor is a useful option, but not necessary.A similar situation with Multipoint.This feature is convenient for those who use headphones at the same time as a phone or laptop, while my headset most often serves only to connect to a smartphone.
