As we have just told you, in Fallout 4, you will have several colonies to manage and for each one, you will be able to have useful materials for crafting. You will also need to manage the water and food needs of each of these.
The problem is that manually transferring resources between each of these colonies is not only time-consuming, but also tedious! Therefore, we advise you to look into the mechanics of the supply route which will allow you to do this passively.
Concretely, you send one of your inhabitants to shuttle between two colonies and thus exchange resources. Besides, know that it is easy to connect all its colonies with only a few routes. Let's take the example of three colonies, A, B and C.
Well, you don't need to link them all together! Indeed, simply make a supply route between A and B and between B and C and the three will connect themselves. The only detail to take into account is that the inhabitants sent for supplies always count as inhabitants of their place of departure and still consume water and foodeven if they're not really there anymore.
The supply routes in Fallout 4, as we have just seen, are extremely practical, but it remains to be seen how to create one. For that, you must have at least two colonies with at least one resident available to fill this role.
You must also unlock the “Local Chef” ability which will require 6 charisma points. Once all these prerequisites are met, you will simply have to go into construction mode. Then select the settler you want to assign to this task.
Choose your destination, validate and that’s it. Your settler has now become a supplier and you will see him going on the roads with his Brahmin. Before throwing it into the deep end, still think about equipping it a little with weapons and armor.
Indeed, he cannot himself be killed by NPCs, but he will fight against them and perhaps be knocked out. Also be careful not to leave too many mines lying around in nature. Because if NPCs can't kill your supplier, your own mines can!
