Xiaomi wants to release a smartphone with a built-in lie detector

A polygraph is a device that can detect lies by measuring the body’s physiological responses, such as heart rate, blood pressure, palm sweating, and breathing.

Modern polygraphs also analyze the movement of the subject’s eyeballs and pupils during the test.

Such lie detection technology may soon find application in Xiaomi devices.According to the portal ITHome, the Chinese manufacturer has granted a patent that describes a mobile lie detector that can fit in a regular smartphone.

How it works?

For the Xiaomi patented technology to work, a camera with a telephoto lens is needed, which will be used to record the face and track the movement of the pupils of the subject.The whole process starts with automatically adjusting the shooting angle so that the subject is always in focus.The device will then analyze the collected data and determine if it meets the conditions that indicate that the information submitted by the person is a lie.The patent describes that the technology can be integrated with a mobile terminal such as a smartphone or other device with an appropriate camera.

It sounds interesting, but time will tell if Xiaomi decides to use this feature in serial smart phones.
