Xbox players pay 110 euros and continue to wait for promised content

Arkane Austin's “Redfall” was released almost a year ago. Some players are still waiting for their promised content.

“Redfall”, Arkane Austin’s co-op shooter hope, was released in May 2023. However, the start was pretty much a failure as the game was disappointing both technically and in terms of gameplay. “Redfall” became a laughing stock among users and developers alike were mocked.

However, this is little consolation for those who purchased the “Bite Back” edition of the game. They had sometimes paid a whopping 110 euros, but almost a year after the release they still hadn't received all of the promised content.

Is there anything else coming?

The launch of “Redfall” was so chaotic that Microsoft’s Phil Spencer even personally apologized. Arkane stepped up and quickly released a hotfix for the most urgent problems. A month after launch, version 1.1 brought further fixes to “Redfall”. Major updates followed last fall, bringing a 60 FPS mode for consoles as well as the Basilisk sniper rifle and balance changes to the game.

Last November, the developers said they were working on the Hero Pass, which would be part of the “Bite Back” edition of “Redfall” and provide players with two more heroes. Since then, however, co-op play has remained quiet. There were no further updates on the missing DLC. The game's Twitter account also hasn't posted anything for 30 days.

Players hope for further updates

“With so much radio silence, I'm starting to worry that Bethesda has forgotten the game even exists,” wrote one player on the co-op title's Discord server last month. “The good thing is, if they can’t remember, they can’t turn it off.”

“Redfall is a new release from a once-great studio that failed to live up to the hype or promises,” wrote one buyer of the pricey “Bite Back” edition to our colleagues at Kotaku. “It's better than it ever was, which makes it just mediocre. However, it never got the cyberpunk treatment and probably never will. But I would be happy if someone could prove me wrong in this case.”

The user further wrote that some players believe Arkane is working on another big release behind the scenes. However, he himself would slowly lose hope of it.
