Patch number one for “XDefiant”: Three days after the Release of the new first-person shooter, Ubisoft is addressing the first problems. What exactly changes with the now available update is revealed by the Patch Notes.

The patch notes at a glance

Game modes

  • Sometimes players loading into the practice zone would spawn out of world in a hellscape, which is now (probably) no longer the case.

Devices

  • Fixed an issue where if the player died during the device deployment animation, the next deployed device would fall at their feet instead of being thrown as intended.

Netcode

  • The issue where you would get hit markers when you killed an enemy but their health bar would still be full? The health bar display was incorrect – you dealt damage to them. This should now be fixed.

Localization

  • Fixed an issue where the UI text at the end of a game in Arabic was displayed with the wrong alignment.

various

  • Training zone reactivated, but it is possible that strange things can still happen.
  • Fixed an issue that caused low frame rates on some AMD GPUs.

Numerous cheaters spotted

Sooner or later, Ubisoft will have to address another problem: the cheaters. There are already numerous cheaters in the game who spoil the fun for others.

“XDefiant” uses BattleEye – the same anti-cheat system as in “Rainbow Six: Siege”. Cheaters are also widespread in the tactical shooter, so it is no surprise that the new shooter is also affected.

One player believes: “It's only going to get worse from here on out, and it's only the preseason.” In his opinion, netcode and anti-cheat should have been the top priority. After all, gameplay can be taken care of later.

Someone else says he encounters a cheater “every two or three rounds.” How this will all develop and what measures Ubisoft will take remains to be seen.

“XDefiant” has been free to play for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC since Tuesday. How successful the launch might have been is revealed by unofficial figures by well-informed industry insider Tom Henderson.
