Windows 11 24H2 requires a lot of RAM and storage space to use the AI

When the first devices with Windows 11 24H2 appear on the market in June, they will appear as AI PCs. By using the new CPUs, for example the Snapdragon X Elite NPU, the use of artificial intelligence is also possible in the file explorer.

We already reported in January that these AI PCs must then have at least 16 GB of RAM preinstalled. But that only affects them. The normal requirements for Windows 11 remain at 8 GB of RAM.

As Albacore has now found out, there will be another hurdle for these devices. Because the system drive must be equipped with at least 225 GiB. This means that these devices that want to advertise and equip themselves with AI must come on sale with at least 16 GB RAM / 256 GB hard drive space. (The normal requirement here remains at 64 GB).

The technical data According to the Surface Pro 10 for Business, it is also offered with 8 GB. This would then not be enough for the AI in Windows 11 24H2. Otherwise you have already reached a hard drive space of at least 256 GB. Compared to the Surface 9. There is also a 128 GB version.

So, as I said, these requirements apply to using AI in Windows 11 24H2. Without this AI, you can still use the new version.
