Among all the events planned to celebrate World Star Wars Saga Day on May 4, there is one that can only be discovered on Disney+. This is of course the Star Wars: Tales of the Empire series, but it will not be the only new thing to find in May on the platform.

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire

For once, the 6 episodes of the new animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will be launched simultaneously on Disney+ from May 4. As indicated in the official trailer visible above, the idea is to look into the dark side of the Force this time placing itself on the side of the Galactic Empire.

This animated series is part of a logic similar to that which allowed the creation of Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi in 2022. We will discover the story of Morgan Elsbeth, the Sister of the Night who plays a key role in the series Star Wars: Ahsoka and which we could also see in an episode of season 2 of The Mandalorian.

The second arc should be dedicated to the character of Barriss Offee, a former Jedi whose story is also closely linked to that of Ahsoka Tano. We hope that the 6 episodes of the series Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will be able to provide convincing elements of answers to the questions that still remain unanswered, even if the short format will undoubtedly not make things easier. You will also have to adhere to the 3D rendering used to try to unravel the mysteries of the dark side of the Force.

Shardlake: Shadow Detective

Before the series Shardlake: Shadow Detective, there is a saga of historical detective novels from the pen of the English writer CJ Sansom. The author develops realistic political intrigues based in the context of 16th century England. The adaptation offered from May 1 on Disney+ is inspired by the very first volume of the saga. The story takes place during the reign of the Tudors when lawyer Matthew Shardlake is charged with investigating the murder of an emissary of the Earl of Essex. The sustainability of the Scarnsea monastery depends on his mission, but the monks do not seem very inclined to cooperate.

This original series will be available in full on Disney+ from May 1st. The essential Sean Bean plays the Earl of Essex, Thomas Cromwell, sinister right-hand man of Henry VIII. The role of Matthew Shardlake is assigned to Arthur Hughes, whose actions seem to be closely monitored by the character of Jack Barak (played by Anthony Boyle) who could well be a spy…

The Beatles: Let it Be

Fans of the Beatles' music can join Disney+ on May 8 to watch the restored version of the film. Let it Be. This documentary film by Michael Lindsay-Hogg was originally released in 1970, just after the band broke up, and it became very difficult to find. This is the reason why this has been completely restored to provide an essential complement to the documentary series The Beatles: Get Back made in 2021 by Peter Jackson. The latter also considers that “these two projects are part of the same hyper-ambitious project which is finally being completed more than 50 years later”.

Fans will be able to find John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr during rehearsal and recording sessions preceding their final concert on the roof of the building housing their studios. This film is worth as much for its precious testimonies as for its never-before-seen sequences and its inevitably unforgettable soundtrack.

Avatar: The Way of Water

The second segment of the saga Avatar finally joins the Disney+ catalog from May 17. James Cameron's film was already an event at the cinema and subscribers were therefore impatiently awaiting it on the streaming platform. Avatar: The Way of Water begins a little over ten years after the events of the first part of the franchise. Its story revolves around the fate of members of Jake Sully's family and his companion Ney'tiri as they are forced to abandon their homeland. Will the other clans of Pandora be ready to lend a hand in the new large-scale battle that is coming?

Pauline

Disney+: Films, series, releases not to be missed in May 2024

Just for its incongruity of its synopsis, the fantasy series Pauline deserves to be mentioned here. All the clichés are there: the heroine who becomes pregnant after a one-night stand, the manifestation of supernatural powers, or even this baby who could well be the offspring of the devil… Coveted by the Queen of Hell herself, will the infant fall into the hands of evil forces? Will her mother manage to save the world? And who is this program really aimed at, obviously resulting from grueling brainstorming? Too many unbearable questions pending which will probably find their answers from May 22 on Disney+.
