Admittedly, the topic of mods and Fallout 4 is a pretty hot topic at the moment because the much-discussed next-gen update can cause major problems. But a modder grabbed the game before this update was released and changed the graphics significantly.

Which video is it about? It's the YouTube channel post you can see below Digital Dreamswhose videos are always a topic for us.

  • The scenes from Fallout 4 were released on April 19th, about a week before the release of the next-gen update on Steam.
  • The video is based on an extensive Mod list and an additional one Graphics modeach of which can be found on the well-known Nexus Mods platform.
  • In addition to the mods there is also the tool ReShade for use. Both the preset used for this (can be found on ko-fi.com) as well as the appropriate RayTracing shaders (via patreon.com) are not available for free.

How good does Fallout 4 look with all the mods?

In our opinion, it's clearly better than the original, but you can still see the game's outdated graphics base despite all the mods.

  • In addition to sharper textures and adjusted vegetation and lighting, what particularly stands out to us is the changed color scheme.
  • In some scenes the game looks more realistic and better for our taste, but in others it seems too bright and the colors too saturated.
  • In some cases there are also graphical errors, for example in the reflections in the water or in the scenes in which it is raining.

You can see some freshly taken pictures from Fallout 4 without any mod in the following video. This is about an old peculiarity of the Creation Engine that can still cause difficulties today:
