“We need time to do great things”

Despite the success of the “Fallout” series, Bethesda isn’t rushing into “Fallout 5.” According to estimates, the new part could not appear before 2030.

The series adaptation of the “Fallout” universe, which was released last week, is not only a complete success for Amazon and its streaming service Prime Video. The show also boosts the brand and left on Steam Player numbers of “Fallout 76”, “Fallout 4” and “Fallout New Vegas”.

However, fans will have to wait a while for a “Fallout 5”. On Twitter, Bethesda's Emil Pagliarulo responded to the question of why the studio always takes so long to develop.

As Bethesda's Todd Howard already stated in 2022, “Fallout 5” will be only appear after “The Elder Scrolls 6”.. Since the fantasy game won't be released until 2026 at the earliest and was released last September “Starfield” Although it's been in development for more than a decade, the best estimates are that the next Fallout game might not come to market until the 2030s. Why does Bethesda's game development always take so long?

The short answer, Pagliarulo said on Twitter, is that there is no short answer. Development timelines are “not specific to each of our games” and “can vary for various reasons,” said the long-time Bethesda employee.

With Starfield, the studio would have spent a lot of time updating and developing its technologies. However, these systems could also be used in other games in the future to shorten schedules. Pagliarulo also pointed out that the team “took a little break to get started Fallout 76 to cooperate.”

Fallout 5 already influenced the Amazon show

“It always comes down to the most important resource of all – people,” says Pagliarulo. “Like every team, we have talented people who need time to develop great things. So we can’t do everything at once.”

However, Bethesda already seems to know what “Fallout 5” will be about. Because the authors of the Amazon series had to do some Remove items from the show, which will appear in the next post-apocalyptic game. “There were some things where I said, 'Don't do that, because we're going to do that in Fallout 5,'” Todd Howard said.
